When Private Communications Are Essential

A SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) is a secure room that protects against electronic surveillance and suppresses data leakage of sensitive government, military and security information. SCIFs are used to deny unauthorized personnel access or entry into facilities that contain classified material. The SCIF must be certified and accredited as meeting Director of National Intelligence security standards for the processing, storage, and/or discussion of sensitive compartmented information (SCI).
